Park

Malnava College manages the largest manor complex with a spacious and meticulously maintained park. It is one of the oldest parks in Latvia, and had it not been affected by World War II, it would also be the park with the greatest variety of exotic plant species. In total, the park covers an area of 18 hectares (including Ziedonis Garden—the second, newest part of the park). The park has a regular layout with French-style features, being geometric and symmetrical. The manor park features a pond with a fountain. A stone wall with a tiled roof was built around the park. Fragments of the wall have survived to this day. 

The old manor park was planted around 1830, during the reign of Count Shadurski. The count himself loved nature and was interested in horticulture, which is why he decided to plant a park behind the manor house. The park covers an area of 6.9 hectares, of which 0.1 ha is occupied by the pond. The park has a regular layout with well-maintained groups of exotic trees. The entire territory of the park has well-maintained lawns, paths and recreation areas. Next to the old manor park is Ziedoņis Garden, which covers an area of approximately 11 hectares.

Different species of local trees grow here: maples, ash trees, oaks, linden trees, hazel trees, fragile willows, hornbeams, and elms; rare species include several white birch varieties, tree-of-life species, Tatarian maple, Canadian aspen, walnut, and others. The most common tree in the park is the spruce.

The park of the Malnava manor is freely accessible for walks. The bunkers of the Second World War are located in the manor park.

Within the framework of the European Union project, the association “Sports Club ‘Kuorsova’” established the disc golf park “Malnova” in Malnava Manor Park in 2025. It consists of two independent but complementary courses, offering opportunities for both beginners and experienced players.
